KUPANG  (Floresku.com) - Pater Dr.Philipus Tule, SVD  terpilih kembali sebagai Rektor Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira (Unwira) Kupang untuk periode II  (2021-2025).  Informasi tersebut terungkap melalui unggahan facebooker atas nama Harun Ndoa di https://www.facebook.com/pages/UniversitaKatolikWidya MandiraKupang.  Harun menulis demikian, “ Proficiat Opa Pater Philipus Tule, SVD yang terpilih kembali sbg Rektor Unwira Kupang. (Periode II ,2021-2025). Tuhan memberkati."

Sebelumnya, pada 10 Meil 2021 lalu, situs www.unwira.ac.id menulis:  “Pada hari ini tanggal, 10 Mei 2021 pada pukul 10.00 - 12.30 WITA diadakan Rapat Senat Akademik dalam rangka dimulainya proses penjaringan bakal calon Rektor UNWIRA periode 2021 -2025. Proses penjaringan ini segera dilaksanakan berhubungan dengan masa kepemimpinan Rektor P. Dr. Philipus Tule, SVD yang akan berakhir pada bulan September 2021.”

Sebagaimana diketahui,  Pater Philipus dilantik menjadi Rektor Unwira untuk periode pertama, 2017-2021 pada 23 September 2017 lalu.  Pater Dr. Philipus diberitanggung jawab untuk memimpin Unwira karena memiliki latar belakangan pendidikan dan riwayat pekerjaan yang sangat mumpuni. 

Berikut  riwayat pendidikan dan karir akademiknya:

Pendidikan: 

• 1975-1984: Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the Institute of Philosophy, Ledalero, Flores. 
• 1985-1988: studi lanjut di Pontifical Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies (PISAI) Rome. Meraih gelar (Licentiate in Arabic and Islamic Studies) from the PISAI, Rome (Italy) pada 1988 dengan tesis berjudu ‘Nurcholish Madjid’s Concept of Secularization and Ali Abd Al-Raziq’s Tendency to Secularization (A Comparative Study)’. 
• Menigkuti Pendidikan Kewiraan at LEMHANNAS, Jakarta (Angkatan XXXI, Sept – Oct 1990). 
• 1995: Meraih gelar Diploma bida Southeast Asian Studies (1995) dari The Australian National University, Canberra. 
• Pada Juli 2001, meraih gelar doktor di bidang Antrhoplogi dari The Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, dengan  disertasi berjudul ‘Longing for the house of God, Dwelling in the house of the ancestors: Local Belief, Christianity and Islam Among the Keo of Central Flores’.
